Globalization, digital transformation, "war for talents", flexibility and changeability, innovation, and new working environments drive companies today and tomorrow and pose considerable challenges for HR departments, HR decision-makers and strategic management. When, for instance, mergers or acquisitions result in the merging of different companies with numerous software solutions, (traditionally) different cultures and organizational constellations, the areas involved in HR particularly often reach their limits in practice. At least by now, many HR managers are forced to enter uncharted territory and deal with requirements that sometimes lie far outside their core competencies.

Digitalization projects, global standardization, or conversions to innovative personnel instruments in the recruiting or personnel development sector determine the everyday life of decision-makers in the HR environment of modern companies.

Strategic challenges of modern HR departments are to be in tune with constantly changing environments, to internally communicate these changes and to anchor them in the company in the long term, to shape corporate cultures, to attract new employees, to remain innovative and to increase the importance of HR work for the company's success.
However, it is also the practical issue(s) of DSGVO conformity, reacting to legal changes (short-time work compensation), expanding technical possibilities for employees to increasingly participate in administrative processes (self-services, cloud solutions) or planning and implementing digital conversions (IT project management) that place a significant demand on HR decision-makers today. 

Several key questions arise regarding this topic. For instance, what needs to be considered when setting up new organizational structures, how systems can be merged, and how cloud solutions are prepared. Or whether there are solutions to centralize payrolls in different countries?
